ABOUT OPUS ART COLLECTIVE (VIDEO)
ABOUT THE COLLECTIVE
Opus is an invitational art collective exclusively for art fairs. It is managed by Jen Tough Gallery, a contemporary art gallery in the Bay Area of California. Jen Tough ("Tuff") has a BFA in fine art and was an award-winning art director for over 20 years for such companies as Warner Bros Records, Urban Outfitters and Nike. Jen Tough represents 20 artists through the gallery, manages Opus Art Collective, lectures on artist promotion and marketing, and is an award-winning exhibitor at art fairs. The collective was started when she saw the need for independent artists to promote themselves and exhibit their work at fairs in larger, professionally managed and curated booths normally the domain of galleries.
Gallery staff review artist submissions to join the collective, curate the booth, professionally ship and hang the booth, staff the booth, promote via social media and lists, process payments, handle fees, insurance and licenses, and manage logistics and production for each fair. Artists are free to self-promote using their own business cards and a professionally designed sign, and keep 100% of any sales. And because Opus and Jen Tough Gallery are an award-winning exhibitor, our artists are pre-approved to exhibit.

REVIEWS FROM ARTISTS
“Jen and her team are fantastic. Very responsive. I have exhibited in her gallery and with OPUS Artists Collective at Art Santa Fe. Jen is smart, and given her background, knows how to construct a narrative and mount a show. Her booth / space at Santa Fe was stunning. It had a gallery feel, curated, which I liked and appreciated. I believe that 2018 has been a difficult year for art sales in general. Both galleries in the Midwest that represent me have mentioned that it has been a tough year, including the one that also exhibits at the big fairs. While I did not sell my work, Jen provided meaningful feedback, I made good connections with other artists, my website saw a decent spike in traffic, and a good handful joined my email list. That being said, I would trust Jen and make the investment.” — Tom Owen / Art Santa Fe 2018
Being involved with the Opus Art Collective at Art Santa Fe 2018 was a wonderful experience! Jen's booth was the best & I received a lot of great interest, feedback & the best of all, I sold my work! What's not to like?

Jen Tough's Opus Collective made my first fair experience a pleasant one. Her team provided beautiful curation and staffing and allowed me time to connect with other artists at the fair and engage with the crowd in ways that would not have been possible if I was manning my own booth and concentrating on sales. Overall it was a positive experience that provided a lot of exposure for my work and even though my work did not sell at the fair, I still consider the experience a success for my long term goals.

Talking with Jen about the artists was so interesting that I submitted my work. I was honored to be accepted and sent two pieces with Jen Tough to Santa Fe. The team at Opus was professional, responsive and fun to work with. My art was beautifully displayed and professionally lit and well received. I hope to be part of Opus again and would recommend (and have done so) the collective to emerging modern artists. Great experience, great community and the feedback and response continues long after the show.

I cannot thank you enough for going above and beyond for all of us at Opus!
You truly gave us such a rare opportunity and brought so much experience and finesse to it. Thank you also for this wrap up. It is soooo helpful and encouraging! I have been thinking about working larger and with other mediums, so that’s interesting. I will totally keep you posted! I really loved attending the Fair and it was so fun and inspiring. You are such a refreshing and rigorous voice in the art world and I am so grateful to have worked with you. Thank you so much for all your generosity and hospitality to me. It was so welcomed, needed, and received with such gratitude. — Skyler McGee / Art Expo Las Vegas 2018

"I want to say how impressed I am with your professionalism and ability to pull together something which, at times, must have seemed like an absolute nightmare! Thank you so much for the feedback, it all makes sense. I now need to work out my painting response to it..."
—Janet Mazenier / Art Expo Las Vegas 2018
"It has been a fantastic learning experience as I continue to define what I want as an artist.
I look forward to the New Mexico show so I can compare/contrast two different shows. I am hoping Miami will also be an option for me this year. The Opus artist's are a great group of talented and enthusiastic artists and I particularly enjoyed meeting them. I appreciate your professional approach to hanging and representing work. You rock."
